How we list practices
We list providers whose public records say they do this work. Nobody pays to be listed, and paying never changes what a listing says.
Who we list
- Lactation consultants: providers registered as lactation consultants, and registered nurse lactation consultants in their own practice.
- Doulas: providers registered as doulas.
- Midwives: midwives, and certified nurse-midwives in their own practice or a midwifery practice.
- Birth centers: organizations registered as birthing centers.
- Pediatric physical and occupational therapy: practices registered for pediatric physical or occupational therapy.
- Pediatric speech therapy: speech-language pathology practices that work with children, by their name or because they're also registered for pediatric therapy.
Who we leave out
- Hospitals, health systems, school districts and government offices. Their records usually point to a main switchboard rather than to someone you can book.
- Records with no working phone number, and organizations whose records repeat the same generic name across many states.
- Individuals who share a phone number with a practice we list. We list the practice instead.
What a listing shows
The name on the record, the kinds of help it says they offer, the town they serve and their phone number. For people working on their own we show the town, not a street address. Practices with an office show the address. Credentials such as IBCLC appear as the provider lists them on their record; we haven't checked them against licensing boards yet, so confirm before you book. You can look up any IBCLC in the IBLCE public registry.
Paid placement
Listing is free for every qualified provider. A practice can pay for the top spot on a city page, one sponsor per city and type of help. Every paid spot is labeled Ad, and its link is marked as sponsored for search engines. Prices are flat, published on our page for practices and the same for everyone; they never depend on how many people call. We never charge per lead or per referral.
Corrections
If something is wrong, or you'd like your listing removed, use the For businesses page. We fix errors, usually within a few days.
